You may not like jazz. But the next time your friends tell you that art just has to have heavy public subsidy, tell them that jazz is America's sui generis artform. It got virtually no public subsidy as it began to spring up from the streets of New Orleans, New York and Chicago. And yet it thrived in the the spaces -- between work and love, pain and happiness.
Can nerdiness be sexy? I will devote some space to arguing it can. Indeed, Dorian Electra has proven such in this clip titled "I'm in Love with Friedrich Hayek".
Libertarian nerds of the not-so-fair sex are finding that a woman who channels their Austrian icons effectively in song can also cause certain physiological responses. And because libertarian women generally lack the envy/jealousy gene, there's very little blowback from the women of liberty. In fact, they probably identify with Electra in finding Hayek, well, dreamy. So there is a little something for everyone in this clip.
So here's a question: for the money spent, could this be the most successful video about Hayek ever created? I'll take your answers in the comments. In the meantime, try to pull your eyes away from Dorian Electra you pervert. And try to get this song out of your head while you work.
